E-Learning
Digital technologies are getting more
and more embedded in society and there are few areas of life not impacted by ICT. Here at Cliff we understand that ICT should be in everything we do. This means E-Learning is one of our biggest developments.
What is E-Learning?
E-Learning is defined as a planned teaching/learning experience that uses a wide spectrum of technologies, mainly Internet or computer-based, to reach learners and facilitate understanding. Therefore ICT is taught in all the subjects through E-Learning. This approach allows the skills and experiences the children get on computers become more meaningful and relevant as well as assisting their learning.
ICT is taught as a specific subject across the school, with a specialist teacher from years 3-6. But the learning achieved in these lessons is used to enhance learning and teaching in other areas. We also subscribe to services like Mathletics and Education City which are web based resources which the children can access at home.
E-Learning at Pre-Prep
At our Pre-Prep department we have an Apple iMac in each classroom (including nursery) and from reception to year 2 we have an additional laptop running the classes interactive whiteboard. In addition to this the children also get
the use of a specialist teaching room where there is a bank of Apple iMac machines.

E-Learning at Prep
At our Prep department we have 14 Apple MacBook laptops in the E-Learning suite. These laptops are flexible so they can be used in and out of the suite thanks to our wired and wireless systems. This allows for multiple E-Learning activities to be taking place at one time. We have an additional laptop in each year group running an interactive whiteboard. In the schools science centre we have 2 further laptops which run our webcams, video cameras, digital microscopes and interactive whiteboard allowing for much deeper scientific study.
